A Peek at Next Week

A Look at This Week:
Social Studies- Students will present their slide show on the Columbian Exchange, create Aztec masks, and begin to preview Chapter 5.
Essential Questions:  
How can one country impact another?
What can we learn from the Columbian Exchange that has impacted other countries today?

Science- Students will review Chapter 5 and take a test on Thursday. 
Essential Questions: 
How do plants produce food?
How is energy passed through an ecosystem?


ELA
Reading- We will finish discussing A Boy Called Slow.  We will also continue to cite evidence from the text when analyzing and answering questions.
Essential Questions:
How are challenges conquered in literature and informational text?
How do characters, real and fictional, respond to challenges (both positively and negatively)?
How can challenges affect yourself and the world around you?

Word Work-  Students will take a quiz on our second list of Word Work roots on Tuesday.  Then we will begin working from our third list of words:  astro, ject, spec/spect, see, auto, post, and tri.

Language Arts- Students will begin writing a narrative.  They will be brainstorming, journaling, and organizing their thoughts in a graphic organizer.

Math-  Students will take their Unit 1 test on Wednesday.  They will then begin Unit 2 "Adding and Subtracting Fractions."  We will be demonstrating this skill by using money as a model.

Important Days:
Monday- No School- Columbus Day
Thursday- Book Fair and Taffy Apples 6:30-8:00
