Thanks to the PTO for putting on the Book Fair!





A Look at Next Week:
Social Studies- We will begin Chapter 6, "Life in the English Colonies."

ELA
Reading- We will continue to work in our ELA centers during Daily 3.  We will continue to do a close read of Chapter 6 in Touching Spirit Bear.  Not only will we be looking at different challenges that are being faced in this chapter, but also on different characters perspectives.
Essential Questions:  
How can challenges affect yourself and those around you (i.e family, friends, etc)?
How do characters, real and fictional, respond to challenges  (both positively & negatively)?
How are challenges conquered in literature and informational text?

Word WorkSpelling:  Students will not have Spelling this week, due to changes in our daily schedule.
Vocabulary-  Students will continue to create tableaux of their words, and work on a few skits.

Language Arts- Students will continue to work on their punctuation unit.

Science- Students will be learning about the barn owl, in preparation for our owl pellet lab.
Essential Questions:  How do organisms compete and survive in an ecosystem? How do ecosystems change over time? How do people affect ecosystems?

Math-  We will be taking a quiz on Monday on Lessons 6.1-6.5, which cover multiplying decimals.  We will also continue to review multiplication skills.

Wednesday- Bowling Field Trip
Friday- Tivoli Field Trip

Winter Wear Drive

Our Prairieview PBIS is sponsoring a winter wear drive.  The school is collecting donations of clean new and gently used gloves, mittens, hats, scarves, boots, and coats.  They will be distributed to many Chicago Public Schools and Illinois schools, including:  Harvey, Posen, and Robbins.  Drop boxes are located in the Prairieview's Lobby and in each grade level area.  Thank you for your help and generosity this winter season.

A Look at Next Week:
Social Studies- We will finish reviewing Chapter 5 this week and we will be taking a test on Wednesday.

ELA

Word WorkSpelling:  Students will be studying Lesson 14, and will take a test on Friday.
Vocabulary-  Students will fill out the Frayer model in their Vocabulary notebooks for our new Touching Spirit Bear vocabulary.  Students will then begin tableaux of their words.

Language Arts- Students will write directions for their Science board-games, and will continue to work on their punctuation unit.

Science- Students are in the middle of making board-games to review their Science material.  They will finish this project and take their Chapter 6 test on Thursday.

Math-  We are working on multiplying decimals.  We will be doing Lessons 6.2-6.5, multiplying decimals with whole numbers and showing this process through the use of models.

Wednesday- 7:00 Band and Choir Concert
Friday- Movie Night
