Naper Settlement

We had a wonderful time at Naper Settlement today.  Luckily the rain held off, and it was muddy, but fairly warm.  We were able to visit different sites around the settlement and see what life was like in the past.  We visited a blacksmith, print shop, log cabin, farm house, and school house.  Most of the kids enjoyed the school house.  It was a great learning experience, and wonderful day.

Here is a look at the blacksmith at work:

We had a wonderful time on our field trip today.  Thank you to all those who volunteered to go with us.  The kids really enjoyed themselves.  Some of their highlights were seeing the wind tunnels, shooting tennis balls across the pavilion, creating tsunamis, and doing the experiments in our lab.  In the chemistry lab we learned about chemical reactions and changes.  Students seemed to have a lot of fun wearing their safety goggles and conducting their experiments.
