A Peek at Next Week

A Look at This Week:
Social Studies- Students will finish taking notes on Lesson 5.1, "Hard Times in Virginia."  Then we will read Lesson 5.2, "New European Colonies."

Science- Students will take an open-note assessment on Lesson 6.1, "How do Organisms Compete and Survive in an Ecosystem," on Tuesday.  Then they will read Lesson 6.2, "How do Ecosystems Change Over Time?"

ELA
Reading- We will read Chapter 6 in Touching Spirit Bear.  We will focus on point of view, and looking at the same story from different perspectives.
Essential Questions:
How are challenges conquered in literature and informational text?
How do characters, real and fictional, respond to challenges (both positively and negatively)?
How can challenges affect yourself and the world around you?

Word Work-  Students will work with our vocabulary from Touching Spirit Bear: taunted, smirk, respect, juvenile, delinquent, and defiantly.

Language Arts- Students will revise their second drafts of their narratives, and will be working with prepositions.

Math-  Students will continue to work on Lesson 2.2, "Introducing Common Denominators."  They are finding equivalent fractions by working on word problems, and discussing their strategies in class forums.

Have a great weekend!
