A Peek at this Week

 A Look at This Week:

ELA:  

Reading- We will continue to look at different character's perspectives within a story, and author's purpose.  Student's book reports are due this week.

Word Work- Students will continue to work with Word Work List 5 word parts: a/an, dec, derma, photo, port, and struct.

Writing- Students will make writing goals, and will review the use of commas while writing.

Math: Students will learn how to multiply a fraction by a whole number.

Science:  Students will finish discussing patterns in the night sky.

Social Studies:  Students will be discussing colonialism, and the colony of Jamestown.

A Peek at This Week

   

A Look at This Week:

ELA:  

Reading- We will continue to look at different character's perspectives within a story.  We will finish our discussion of the book Teammates.

Word Work- Students will continue to work with Word Work List 4 word parts.

Writing- Students will continue to journal about small moments in our life from our character's point of view.  We will also enhance our writing by using commas as we write.

Math: Students will learn how to simplify fractions using the Greatest Common Factor.

Science:  Students will continue to investigate why the patterns in the night sky change throughout the year, and will write a Scientific Explanation on Friday.

Social Studies:  Students will finish discussing their theories about what happened to the Roanoke colonists.

A Peek at Next Week

Geography Stations





  

A Look at This Week:

ELA:  

Reading- We wrapped up our discussion on A Boy Called Slow.  Next week we will begin to look at the story, Teammates, which is about Jackie Robinson.

Word Work- Students will continue to work with Word Work List 4 word parts, and take a quiz over the words on Friday.  Word Work List 4: aud, cardio, de, duct, hydro, and quad.

Writing- Students will continue to journal about small moments in our life from our character's point of view.

Math: Students will be deciding when it is more effective to view fractions as money or clocks.  They will also begin to find the Least Common Multiple, and will be begin simplifying fractions.

Science:  Students will continue to investigate why the patterns in the night sky change throughout the year.

Social Studies:  Students will begin Chapter 5, Lesson 1:  "Hard Times in Virginia."  We will be taking cause and effect notes while we look at the mystery of the lost colony of Roanoke.
