Happy Holidays!

Bowling Field Trip







A Look at Next Week:
Social Studies- Students are previewing and reading Chapter 6, "Life in the Colonies."

Science- Students will begin our unit on Energy.
ELA
Reading and Language Arts- Students will finish presenting their Glogs.  We will also begin Unit 2, "Nature's Fury."  Students will be talking about Natural Disasters and will be reading an article on earthquakes.

Word Work-  Students will be working on List 6:  arch, cent, graph, loc, ped/pod, and re.


Math-  Students will begin Unit 3, Module 1:  "Whole Number and Decimal Place Value."

A Look at This Week:
Social Studies- Students are reviewing Chapter 5 and previewing Chapter 6.

Science- Students will dissect owl pellets on Monday.
ELA
Reading and Language Arts- Students will finish the Glog for their challenge project, and hopefully begin presenting.
Essential Questions:
How are challenges conquered in literature and informational text?
How do characters, real and fictional, respond to challenges (both positively and negatively)?
How can challenges affect yourself and the world around you?

Word Work-  Students will take a quiz on the roots/prefixes/suffixes from  List 5 (a/an, dec, derma, photo, port, struct) on Wednesday.


Math-  Students will review adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers.

Important Days:
Tuesday- 10:00 Concert, and Early Dismissal
Wednesday-  Bowling Field Trip
Friday- Holiday Movie Field Trip

Last Day of Junior Achievement

A Look at This Week:
Social Studies- Students are reviewing Chapter 5 and will take a test over the material on Friday.

Science- Students will begin our unit on barn owls.  They will be learning about the barn owl, it's adaptations and ecosystem.  Then they will do an on-line dissection of an owl pellet.

Reading and Language Arts- Students will create a Glog for their challenge project.

How do characters, real and fictional, respond to challenges (both positively and negatively)?
How can challenges affect yourself and the world around you?

Word Work-  Students will work with the roots/prefixes/suffixes from  List 5 (a/an, dec, derma, photo, port, struct).


Math-  Students will find equivalent fractions using the Least Common Multiple, and will be simplifying fractions by finding the Greatest Common Factor.
