A Peek at this Week

 A Look at This Week:

ELA:  

Reading- We will be identifying the different purposes for the different text structures

Word Work- Students will continue to work with Word Work List 9 word parts: dis, biblio, demo, mal, mono, and therm.

Writing- Students will begin their Natural Disaster Magazine, with 3 articles written about a specific storm, and each article will be in a different text structure.  This week students will pick their storm and begin researching.

Math: Students will be dividing using ratio tables.

Science:  Students will continue writing scientific arguments.

Social Studies:  Students will preview Chapter 8: "A Road to the Revolution."

Important Days:

Monday- Too Good for Drugs

Wednesday- Open House and Book Fair

Thursday- St. Baldrick Event

ISA (Illinois Science Assessment)

 A Look at This Week:

ELA:  

Reading- We will review text structures.

Word Work- Students will take an assessment on Friday on Word Work List 9 word parts: dis, biblio, demo, mal, mono, and therm.

Writing- Students will finish their Natural Disaster Newscast.

Math: Students will practice multiplying multi-digit numbers, using the standard algorithm.

Science:  Students will continue writing scientific arguments.

Social Studies:  Students will look at Native Americans' point of view on American history.

Important Days:

Monday- No School

Tuesday- Too Good for Drugs; Illinois Science Assessment Test 1

Wednesday- ISA Test 2

Thursday- ISA Test 3

Friday- PV Movie Night

Illinois Assessment of Readiness Testing- ELA

 A Look at This Week:

ELA:  

Reading- We will review context clues and will be IAR testing.

Word Work- Students will be working with Word Work List 9 word parts: dis, biblio, demo, mal, mono, and therm.

Writing- Students will be writing their scripts for the Natural Disaster Newscast.

Math: Students will be applying their knowledge of partial product to multiplying numbers using the standard algorithm.

Science:  Students will be working on creating scientific arguments.

Social Studies:  Students will review the the history of different Native American groups in North America, which will lead into our discussion about the French and Indian War.

Tuesdayday- IAR ELA Test 1

Wednesday- IAR ELA Test 2

Thursday- IAR ELA Test 3

IAR (Illinois Assessment of Readiness)- Math Tests

 A Look at This Week:

ELA:  

Reading- We will review text structure, and how to identify different types of text structure (problem/solution, description, sequence, cause/effect, or description).

Word Work- Students will start working with Word Work List 9 word parts: dis, biblio, demo, mal, mono, and therm.

Writing- Students will continue to work on their Natural Disaster paper.

Math: Students will be multiplying using the partial product strategy, and will be taking their IAR tests.

Science:  Students will be working on creating scientific arguments.

Social Studies:  Students will review the the history of different Native American groups in North America, which will lead into our discussion about the French and Indian War.

Wednesday- IAR Math Test 1; Internet Safety Presentation

Thursday- IAR Math Test 2
