 ELA:

Reading- Students will continue to work on paraphrasing.  

Word Work- Students will work on their Word Work List 6 slides.  List 6 word parts are:  arch, cent, graph, loc, ped/pod, and re.

Writing- Students will write their flash drafts on natural disasters, and will begin note-taking.

Math: Students will continue to model, read, and compare decimals.  

Science:  We will begin to write scientific arguments, using claims and evidence.

Social Studies:  Students will finish discussing the colonial trading system and the Middle Passage.

Writing- Students will begin writing an informational text about natural disasters.

Math: Students will be modeling, reading, and comparing decimals.  They will take their mid-year common assessments on Thursday and Friday.

Science:  We will be investigating how animals grow and thrive in their ecosystems.

Social Studies:  Students will finish Lesson 6.1.  They will be learning about the colonial trading system and the Middle Passage.

A Peek at this Week

 ELA:

Reading- We will begin our second unit on natural disasters.  We will start to read some articles about avalanches and wildfires.

Word Work- Students will take their Word Work Lists 1-5 quiz on Tuesday.

Writing- We will practice paraphrasing articles.

Math: Students will begin to work with decimals.  They will learn different strategies for adding decimals, and will go over the decimal place value.

Science:  We will be discussing food webs, and how everything is made up of matter.

Social Studies:  Students will start Chapter 6 and learn about apprentices and artisans.
