Voices of the Revolution

Each student will be reading one of these three books in our "Voices of the Revolution" novel study:

Guns for General Washington-  This is a story about Henry Knox 's convoy of cannons from Fort Ticonderoga to Boston Harbor. I like how the chapters are from different people's perspectives throughout the journey, so that readers can really see what everything is like from both sides of the war.

George Washington's Socks-  In this novel a group of adventurous kids accidentally go back in time and end up in the middle of the Continental Army's crossing of the Delaware River.  Students are able to visualize the obstacles soldiers faced, and what they were willing to go through in order to fight for their freedom.

Toliver's Secrets-  Ellen Toliver gets talked into delivering a secret message across enemy lines.  She is living in Britain occupied New York, and must cross the bay to deliver her message to another spy.  This compelling story helps students visualize what dangers people underwent in order to fight for our independence.
