First Full Week of School
It has been a wonderful first week of school! We have been working on team building and building classroom norms.
Team Building
Look at this Week:
ELA:
Writer's Workshop: We will continue to build our writing stamina in our Writing notebooks. We have worked our way up to 7 solid minutes of writing.
Reading Skills: Students will begin their first unit in Reading: "What makes us who we are?"
Essential Question: How do your experiences help shape your identity?
Word Work: Students will be working with our new vocabulary words, by defining the word, drawing a picture of the word, finding synonyms and antonyms, and writing them in sentences.
Essential Vocab: identity, experience, pursuit, wisdom
Math: Students are starting Unit 1: Models for Multiplication and Division. Next week we will begin to look at the different ways to model multiplication: open number line, ratio table, tile array, and area model.
Science: We will be using Mystery Science videos and STEM activities to help students become more inquisitive and curious about the world around them. We will begin next week discussing what is a scientist.
Social Studies: Students will continue to build our classroom community, and we will begin our unit on the studying the Midwest.

Tuesday- Reading MAP testing 10:15-11:15 AM
Wednesday- Early Dismissal (11:25 AM pick-up)
Thursday- Math MAP testing 1:15-2:30 PM
