Happy Thanksgiving!

Well the fifth grade students survived their Robert Crown presentation, and brought home books that review the material that was covered.  Please take the time to talk to your child about the presentation they saw today.

After lunch students wrote great stories about Thanksgiving from the turkey's point of view or perspective.  Then as a class we shared what we were thankful for, and wrote notes to people we were thankful to have in our lives.

I am very thankful to be teaching these terrific fifth graders.

I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your week and a terrific Thanksgiving!

A Look at next Week:
Social Studies- We will begin reviewing Chapter 4 and take an assessment by Friday the 1st.

ELA
Reading- We will read Ch. 6 of Touching Spirit Bear, and students will be discussing the perspective the story is told from.

Language Arts- We will continue to revise our narratives, making sure we are adding relevant detail to our stories.  Students will also be learning to read through the lens of a writer, and learning from mentor texts.

Word Work- Students will continue to work on Unit 4 word parts: aud, cardio, de, duct, hydro, and quad.  Students will take a Unit 4 quiz on Thursday.

Math-  Students will take their Unit 1 test on Tuesday (11/28).  Then we will begin Unit 2 "Adding and Subtracting Fractions."

Happy Thanksgiving!
