A Peek at Next Week

A Look at Next Week:
Social Studies- Students will be doing a close read of the Declaration of Independence.  They will also finish their notes on Lesson 9.2 "Patriots at War."  This lesson covers Henry Knox and Fort Ticonderoga, George Washington crossing the Delaware, the Battle of Saratoga, and the winter at Valley Forge.   Then we will read Lesson 9.3 "The World Turned Upside Down."

Science-  We will take an open note quiz on Lesson 14.3 "What are Chemical Properties and Changes?" on Wednesday.  Then we will begin reviewing Chapter 14.

ELA
Reading and Language Arts- Students will finish reciting Longfellow's poem with inflection.  They will also begin reading "Katie's Trunk," a story from a Loyalist perspective.  



Hardship in History- Essential Questions:
How does the time period of the hardship impact future decisions and events?
How are hardships in history similar and different?

Word Work-  Students will be working on their vocabulary from "Katie's Trunk":  Tory, arming, goods, skittish, just, fierce, skirmish, peered, rebels, kin, and drilling.

Math-  We will continue to go over various multiplication and division strategies.  In particular we will be moving from multiplying with rectangular arrays to multiplying using the standard algorithm.

Important Days:
Thursday- 1:00 Musical at Lakeview (Dress Rehearsal)
Friday- Early Dismissal
