Welcome Back!

Welcome to a new school year!  It was wonderful to see everyone at open house.  I hope everyone is finally settling in.  This is my third year teaching fifth grade at Prairieview, previously I taught Language Arts and Reading for five years at Lakeview.  I had a great summer with my 2 year old, Jonathan, and my 1 year old, Tomas.  We had a lot of fun, but are looking forward to the fall and football season.

I know this past week has been very busy, learning new routines and going over classroom expectations.  I hope everyone enjoyed the PBIS assembly today with Mr. Pagel's speech.

Enjoy your weekend!

Important Days:
Monday- No School, Labor Day
Thursday- Curriculum Night 6:30-7:30 PM.

Phil Schwarz

We were lucky enough to have Phil Schwarz come talk to our 5th graders about weather and meteorology.  Mr. Schwarz is the meteorologist for ABC 7 Weekend News and ABC 7 Sunday Morning News.  He joined ABC 7 News in 1995.

Previously, Mr. Schwarz was the meteorologist at WNYW-TV in New York, NY, where he reported the weather for their 10 PM newscast (1993-95).  Before that, he served as weekend meteorologist at KSTP-TV, the ABC affiliate in St. Paul, MN. (1989-93).

Phil Schwarz began his career as a weather forecaster in his hometown of Flint, MI where he was the weekend meteorologist for WJRT-TV, the local ABC affiliate (1984-89).  During this time, he also owned a forecasting service.

Mr. Schwarz earned his B.S. degree in Meteorology from Pennsylvania State University in 1983.  He holds the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval, and volunteers as an assistant coach for Youth Hockey.  He resides in the suburbs of Chicago with his wife and two children.
