ELA:  

Writer's Workshop:  We will continue to build our writing stamina in our Writer's notebooks.  

Reading Skills: Students will begin their first unit in Reading: "What makes us who we are?" We will continue to work on finding the central idea and supporting details in a text.

Essential Question:  How do your experiences help shape your identity?

Essential Vocab: identity, experience, pursuit, wisdom

Word Work: Students will be working with our new vocabulary words, by defining the word, drawing a picture of the word, finding synonyms and antonyms, and writing them in sentences.  New vocabulary words include:  cynic, defiance, profound, inadvertently, consumed, descended, obliged, mundane, considered, and disdain.

Math: Students will continue to model multiplication and division in order to solve story problems.  They will also be introduced to composite numbers, prime numbers, and factors.

Science: We will be using Mystery Science videos and STEM activities to help students become more inquisitive and curious about the world around them.  

Social Studies:  Students will continue to build our classroom community, and we will begin our unit on the studying the Midwest.  We will be looking at maps of the United States, and labeling the states in the Midwest.
