 A Peek at this Week:

ELA:  

Writing:  We will be performing our podcasts live in class this week.  Students wrote an opinion essay last week and will be answering the question: Would you rather be a parrot or an octopus?

Reading Skills: We will continue to read our informational text, "Let's Dance Around the World."  We will be looking at text structure, and graphics.  

Essential Question:  How far can your talents take you?

Word Work: Vocab- rhythmic, distinctive, highlight, horizontal

Math: We are going to finish Unit 4.  We will be going over measurement and time.  Students will be converting meters to kilometers, milliliters to liters, grams, to kilograms, and will be covering elapsed time. 

Science: We started our Unit, "Using Energy."  Students are learning about different types of energy, and energy transfer.

Social Studies:  We will begin our study of the West.

Important Days this Week:

Wednesday- Early Dismissal

Thursday- Panther Progress 4-7pm

ELA:  

Writing:  We will be taking our IAR tests this week.

Reading Skills: We will continue to discuss our latest story, "The Beatles are Fab."

Essential Question:  How far can your talents take you?

Word Work: Vocab- inspiration, expressive, creativity, sculptures, dignified, polished, hilarious, flattered, stunned, regretted, observant, trampled

Math: Students will practice for their IAR testing and will finish their geometric classroom designs. 

Science: We will begin building our model airplanes; one that is the fastest, one that goes the farthest, and one that has the softest landing.

Social Studies:  We will continue to learn about cacti and the Southwest.
