A Look at Next Week:
Social Studies- We will take cause and effect notes on Lesson 8.2, "The Colonists Rebel."  We will also begin our Patriots/Loyalists books.  Here we will look at the different events leading up to the war from the Patriots point of view and then from the Loyalists point of view.

ELA
Reading- Students will continue our unit, "Nature's Fury." We will discuss expository essays, and using evidence from the text to support and add elaboration to one's writing.  Students will be working on pre-writing activities for their expository writing on how hurricanes are natural disasters.
Essential Questions:  How does a force of nature that is far away, affect me?
How can a force of nature be both destructive and constructive at the same time?
What are forces of nature?

Word WorkSpelling:  Students will be studying Lesson 28, and will take a test on Friday.
Vocabulary-  Students will play word games on the iPad and Scrabble.

Language ArtsStudents will continue to revise their narratives.  Students are working on having exciting hooks for their stories, making sure they have the parts of a short story in their writing, and ending their essay with the impact or lesson of their story.  

Science- Students will finish reading and taking notes on Lesson 12.2, "How Does Ocean Water Move?"  We are practicing Cornell notes in Science and will be discussing waves, current, and tides.

Math-  We will continue our unit on dividing with decimals.  We will review how to divide decimals using models (Lesson 6.10), and begin to use the actual algorithm, (Lesson 6.11).
